Here are just a few of the ways you can get involved:
- Surf Lifesaving Foundation skills – Surf Rescue Certificate (13 – 15 years) and Bronze Medallion (15 years and older)
- Emergency Care – First Aid Certificate and Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate
- Aquatic rescue – Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue, Cert III Public Safety (Aquatic Search and Rescue) and Gold Medallion
- Power Craft – IRB Crewperson, UAV operator Induction Program, Silver Medallion IRB Driver, Rescue Water Craft Operator
- Beach Management – Radio Operator Certificate and Silver Medallion Beach Management
- Training and Education – Nippers (U6-U13) age awards, Age Manager, Trainer, Endorsed Assessor, Assessor, and Facilitator.
Skills Maintenance (Proficiencies)
A member’s proficiency is valid until 31st December the season after the proficiency is gained unless stated otherwise.
The Club Training Officer will notify all members prior to the start of the season regarding proficiency renewal dates. Each member is responsible to ensure their proficiencies are renewed prior to expiry on 31 December.
Online Learning with SLSA
Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) offers a convenient way to complete your awards online. Our online courses cover topics like Aquatic Search and Rescue, Emergency Care, Beach Management, Powercraft, Safety and Wellbeing, Skills Maintenance, and Age Management.
How Online Learning Works:
- Theory Online: Our online courses focus on the theoretical aspects of each award.
- Practical Training: You’ll still need to participate in practical training and assessments, often organised by your surf lifesaving club or state/ territory center.
- Learner Guides: Access essential resources like Learner Guides from the SLSA Members Area Library to support your learning.
